Come and find out about a career in care at open recruitment day
SCA Care is recruiting for its Complex Care team and is hosting an open recruitment day on Wednesday, July 20 at Options Wellbeing Trust at 147, Shirley Road, Southampton, from 10am until 4pm.
Complex Care Support Worker roles
We are looking to fill our Complex Care Support Worker roles across Fareham, Gosport, Southampton, Totton and Winchester and are looking forward to meeting lots of people who believe they have what it takes to work in care.
What makes a good carer?
Caring for others and making their lives better requires passion, patience and professionalism by the bucket load, so we’re looking for someone who has the right kind of personality first and foremost. There are lots of Ps involved in a role like this, as it’s all about people and it’s highly personal. You’re going into people’s homes and are trusted.
A good carer has to be kind. They also need to have emotional resilience and resourcefulness to cope with the physical and psychological aspects of the role. We’re also looking for people who are naturally caring and compassionate, who care about the lives of others.
No experience? No worries!
No experience is necessary, as we cover all the costs of DBS checks and training for staff who remain with us after their probationary period and pay staff to attend training sessions. We offer new recruits an induction and on-boarding programme, as well as buddying-up with other experienced team members. We train staff to an industry standard with all employees completing a Care Certificate. While experience is not necessary, we do welcome those with personal lived experience of care and encourage them to get in touch.
Secure your space
To secure a space on the day to talk to one of the team about a career in care and what this entails, please email claudia.peixoto@sciagroup.co.uk or call 07739979294.
Travelling to our open day
The Shirley area of Southampton is well served by public transport, including rail and bus. The nearest train station is Southampton Central, which is an 11- minute walk or four-minute car journey.
The number 18 bus (Millbrook to Thornhill via Shirley, Southampton, Northam, Bitterne) also runs regularly throughout the day.
Why work for us?
We offer flexible working hours, both full and part-time, competitive wages, from £11-£13.75 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus paid travel time, and a generous holiday allocation, including giving an additional free day for a team member’s birthday.
Joining us is a great opportunity to achieve a recognised qualification and they’ll also be able to access a career pathway, if they wish, through to management. Plus, you’ll be joining a charity, not some large money-making machine, we’re here for those we support and not-for-profit.
Above average pay
New recruits are given their birthday off as a paid day’s leave, free uniforms, free training and all equipment needed to make their calls. They also receive above average rates of pay, as well as 30 days (pro rata) paid holiday inclusive of bank holidays, paid mileage and payment for any time someone spends travelling between calls. Our annual leave is enhanced above that of many of our competitors as we offer six weeks, which is 13.04% of hours worked.
Working for us is perfect for anyone who wants to be supported and appreciated. We nurture a sense of belonging; our team members are recognised for what they do, they are appreciated and engaged.
