We’re urging Southampton folk to volunteer in their community
We are calling on people in Southampton during Volunteers’ Week (June 1 – 7, 2022) to donate their time to help older people in their community.
Volunteers Week is a celebration of the contribution people make through volunteering and Southampton Living Well (SLW), which is a partnership between us and Age UK Southampton (AUKS), is urging people to get involved.
We’re looking for skilled volunteers
Alison Fisher, our Day Opportunities Manager, said: “Volunteers’ Week is extremely important and recognises the fantastic contribution volunteers make. During this week, we want people who might not have thought about volunteering before, to consider it and experience just how rewarding it can be.
“We offer daytime activities and a place to go for older people living in Southampton. We are passionate that everyone should have the opportunity to be able to make the most of later life, whatever the circumstances, so we offer activities, tailored to the interests and abilities of each individual and we are regularly looking for new volunteers to help us out.
“We are looking for several different skilled volunteers to support or lead activities in each of our hubs. Activities will include eating and drinking well, chair-based exercises, quizzes, local history, health and wellbeing activities, walking clubs, music activities, holidays/destinations in UK and abroad, cooking and batch cooking, knitting.”
Volunteer sessions
SLW is looking for volunteers to cover various sessions Monday to Friday from 10am until 3pm as many times per week as they are able to.
