Dan Freshwater joined Social Care in Action as Chief Executive in August this year.
Dan has been working as a senior manager for over 18 years with experience in both the private and charitable sectors. Before coming to join SCiA, Dan was Chief Executive of local charity the Wheatsheaf Trust, focussed on supporting individuals disadvantaged in the labour market by issues such as mental and physical health, housing, debt and low skills to find and sustain a job.
Prior to that role he was the first CEO of the BEST Network; a consortium of community-based charities and social enterprises working collaboratively across Birmingham and the West Midlands to deliver projects aimed at up-skilling unemployed and under-employed people to gain a foothold in society and realise their potential. Whilst leading the BEST Network Dan was responsible for developing and delivering one of the first ‘Social Impact Bonds’ in the country, designed to support disadvantaged young people to make informed decisions about their education, gain valuable work experience and ultimately take control of their journey to employment.
Dan is a committed social entrepreneur who believes passionately in the power of a professional not-for-profit sector to deliver quality services for the benefit of clients and the wider society.
